I’m Melissa and I am so very hoppy you have hopped over to visit.
My blog began because I have had loads of friends who kept telling me I needed to share my creativity and my creations. Being an English teacher, writing and sharing on a blog just seemed to be a natural fit. Little did I know how much technology I would learn and the treasured friendships I would find along the way!
Because my home is now an empty nest, my husband and I are finally unpacking the attic boxes after our move from Arizona in 2003. We now have some “extra” time on our hands because we are not taking our girls to their activities, traveling to competitions, or most recently, the planning of their 2 weddings within 3 years. Yes, they asked mom to create 225 invitations for each wedding, along with other special wedding decorations.
We have lived in our home for 14 years and while we love our home, it needs updating and new decor both inside and out. Follow along while we share our projects.
Craftiness and the arts has always been a part of my family for years. My great grandfather owned a dance studio and painted. My dad was a stained glass artist. I was blessed to inherit the genes! I love helping others create things for their homes and for gifts.
I am also a veteran teacher with over 30 years of experience in elementary and middle school. I am still teaching and find many parents have questions regarding their child’s education, especially when a learning disability is involved. I love to help parents navigate the system as I have had to learn and understand how to help my daughter, who is dyslexic. How crazy is it that a teacher had to learn how to help their own child? You can check out information and stories regarding education HERE.
I bet you didn’t know…..
*I have loved frogs since I was in the fifth grade. I have one in every room of the house.
*Most people will associate me with a frog. I can’t tell you how many frogs I receive each year because someone saw it and thought of me.
*Green is my favorite color (I wonder why?)
*I am older than I look!
After listening to several church sermons about joy and perfection, dealing with “Pinterest Fails”, along years of weekly laundry, which has been rewashed several times before making it to the dryer, I finally jumped into creating this blog. It’s all about crafting an intentional life with a touch of fairytale (small victories). Sometimes, a small victory is washing the laundry only once!
Hop on in to the Crafty Lily Pad and start creating an intentional life full of daily joys, inspiration which will empower, and of course, a touch of Fairy Tale!
